SUMMARY:Rancho Viejo Project Permitting Hearing
DESCRIPTION:Finally\, we have a real opportunity to get behind a project that will make a significant contribution to a rapid and just transition to renewable energy as well as advance us towards county and state climate and renewable energy goals. \nThe project\, the Rancho Viejo Solar and Storage Project will provide 96 MW AC output and 48 MW / 192 MWh battery storage (4 hours) – enough energy to benefit all the residents of the CIty of Santa Fe with inexpensive solar power. \nWith the adoption of the latest UL certifications on parts and systems the battery energy storage system (BESS) will comply with the most modern fire safety standards\, including advanced monitoring and module level automatic fire suppression technologies. Located somewhat in isolation\, 1.5 miles from the nearest residence the BESS reduces fire risks to a minimum despite mis- and dis-information to the contrary.. \nThe project also brings jobs\, tax revenues and other economic benefits along with its so desirable climate warming benefits. \nThe next hearing on the application for a Conditional Use Permit for the Rancho Viejo Solar and Storage Project will take place on Feb 3 from 1:30 pm to 9:30 pm at the Santa De Convention Center. 350SantaFe has been granted standing and is allowed 30 mins to present our case\, before the committee takes public comments\, \nWe need your help to support this much needed project and need you be prepared to speak in support and on behalf of the public. Please show up early at the Convention Center to sign up for your turn to make a comment in support. \n

SUMMARY:Addressing Climate Damages: A Call to Action from the IPCC Report
DESCRIPTION:World Resources Institute\nThe Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report to released on February 28 will reconfirm that even if countries make critical emission cuts\, the economic and social costs of climate impacts are already severe and destined to get worse. While adaptation remains essential and must remain a high priority on the global climate action agenda\, some impacts go beyond any means to adapt\, with developing countries most at risk. That is why this seminal report must be a call to action for governments to reach a decision at COP27 to unlock funding that not only helps countries curb emissions and adapt to climate impacts\, but also addresses the economic and cultural losses and damages that cannot be avoided. \nJoin us on March 8 for an overview of the IPCC report’s findings and a frank discussion about how significant losses and damages from climate change are not only a future risk\, but already a present-day reality for vulnerable people in hotspots around the world. You will hear from leading scientists\, policymakers\, and advocates on how the world must respond to the growing threats from climate change and how critical it is for governments to reach consensus at the COP27 UN climate summit to go beyond talking about funding for loss and damage and instead establish the means to deliver it. \nSpeakers: \n\nNicola Sturgeon\, First Minister of Scotland\nDebra Roberts\, Co-Chair of the Working Group II report\, IPCC\nSaleemul Huq\, Director of the International Centre for Climate Change and Development in Bangladesh\nTina Stege\, Climate Envoy for the Marshall Islands\nWanjira Mathai\, Vice President and Regional Director for Africa\, World Resources Institute (moderator)\n\nRegister
