SUMMARY:ClimateXchange: Defending Climate Policy
DESCRIPTION:Defending Climate Policy: Breakout Discussions with State Advocates\nAs climate policy rollbacks spread across the country\, states are left grappling with how to navigate an increasingly defensive policy landscape. From attacks on renewable energy to broader attempts to undermine climate planning and protections\, advocates and policymakers are working hard to maintain momentum garnered in previous years and protect communities from further backsliding. \nIn this participatory event\, we’re connecting attendees with policy experts to explore how states can defend against attacks on climate policy. First\, we’ll analyze anti-climate policy trends across the country\, before splitting into three breakout rooms to dive deeper into state-level case studies in the Southeast\, New York\, and Michigan. We’ll come back together at the end of the session for Q&A and discussion with other on-the-ground climate advocates. \nOur expert panel includes: \n\nRuby Wincele\, Policy & Research Manager at Climate XChange\nAbigail Franks\, Membership and Policy Manager at Southeast Climate & Energy Network\nJon Binder\, Executive Director of the Model Climate Laws Initiative\, a joint initiative of Columbia Law’s Sabin Center for Climate Change Law and Environmental Advocates NY\nCourtney Brady\, State Advocacy Director at Evergreen Action\n\nRegister

SUMMARY:ClimateXchange: How States Can Secure a Clean and Reliable Grid
DESCRIPTION:As our buildings and transportation become progressively electrified and new energy intensive facilities come online\, states must engage in robust planning to ensure this load growth is supplied by clean energy. Our transmission grid today is aging and fragmented\, but states have a variety of policy tools at their disposal to plan for a clean\, reliable\, and affordable energy future. These tools include the creation of transmission authorities\, which are state entities dedicated to facilitating the planning\, financing\, and stakeholder engagement of transmission infrastructure deployment\, and the development of energy resource zones\, which are strategic locations where energy resources like wind or solar are abundant and key infrastructure investments could connect them to the grid. We’ve convened a panel of experts to explore how states are using transmission authorities and energy resource zones to ensure clean energy resources can connect to the grid and deliver reliable\, affordable energy. Our speakers include: \n\n\n\nCathy Boies\, Director at Gridworks\nAbby Watson\, Co-Founder and President of The Groundwire Group\n\n\n\nRegister

SUMMARY:UCS: Danger Season Action Hour
DESCRIPTION:Across the United States\, communities are already facing worsening climate impacts during “Danger Season”—the period between May and October when extreme heat\, drought\, flooding\, wildfires\, and storms hit hardest. \nAnd these risks are being made worse by the Trump administration’s destructive agenda that is undermining our ability to forecast\, prepare\, and respond to climate and extreme weather disasters. \nThe Union of Concerned Scientists invites you to a Danger Season Action Hour on how the Trump administration’s attacks on crucial climate science and resilience policies are putting people at risk—and what you can do to fight back. \nDanger Season Action Hour: Defend Climate Science & Resilience Policies\nDate: Tuesday\, June 23\nTime: 7:30-8:30 p.m. ET \nRegister for the action hour today. \nFrom dismantling federal climate research programs to cutting funding for agencies such as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and Federal Emergency Management Agency\, recent Trump administration actions are eroding life-saving science and disaster preparedness programs. At the same time\, rising energy costs and economic pressures are leaving families less able to cope with climate extremes. \nAt this event\, UCS climate resilience expert\, Shana Udvardy\, will explain: \n\n\n\nHow attacks on climate science and resilience policies are undermining our ability to prepare for\, respond to and recover from climate and extreme weather disasters; and\nWhat these changes mean for your community.\n\n\n\nCampaign Manager Kate Cell and Senior Organizer Shabd Singh will explain: \n\n\n\nHow we can hold decision-makers accountable; and\nActions you can take right now to protect science and public safety.\n\n\n\nYour voice matters. Together\, we can push back against the Trump administration’s harmful policies\, defend science\, and protect communities that are facing growing climate risks.
