Learn about the years of hard work and determined dreaming of SFWA founder Paige Grant and SFWA’s incredible community partners that made this reach a refuge of riparian life against all odds. Bring your tissues! Space is limited; please RSVP. \n\nDay of Awesome at La Farge Library | Saturday\, September 21 \nA day of stewardship\, art\, and joy at the local library. What could be more awesome than that? Aaron Kauffman of Southwest Urban Hydrology will teach you how to properly thin overgrown elms to improve visibility\, access\, and riparian health. By the way\, this arroyo is a great spot to clean up if you’re looking to participate in Keep Santa Fe Beautiful’s city-wide cleanup event\, Toss No Mass! \nRecycled Art Party\, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. From newspaper hats to bottle cap masterpieces\, give a second life to materials that would have gone in the trash! \n“Know Your Litter”\, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. When it comes to litter prevention\, information is power. Sarah Pierpont\, the executive director of the New Mexico Recycling Coalition\, will teach you how to conduct brand and category audits to help inform strategies for reducing litter\, to hold producers and manufacturers responsible for their products\, and to advocate for policies that promote sustainable practices. \nInteractive Watershed Simulation\, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Ooh\, ahh\, learn\, and play with Simtable’s digital sand table of our beloved Santa Fe Watershed. \nWant to help out with the Day of Awesome? We’re looking for volunteers! Sign up! \n\nFilm Night & Discussion at the Center for Contemporary Arts | Monday\, September 23\, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. \nEnjoy films that inspire conservation of our natural resources and our special places\, followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers and a brief reception. SUMMARY:Earth Day 2022: Invest in Our Planet
DESCRIPTION:All TOGETHER now! \nThis is the moment to change it all — the business climate\, the political climate\, and how we take action on climate. Now is the time for the unstoppable courage to preserve and protect our health\, our families\, our livelihoods… together\, we must Invest In Our Planet. \nBecause a green future is a prosperous future. \nWe need to act (boldly)\, innovate (broadly)\, and implement (equitably). It’s going to take all of us. All in. Businesses\, governments\, and citizens — everyone accounted for\, and everyone accountable. A partnership for the planet. \nAnd while there is still time to solve the climate crisis\, time to choose BOTH a prosperous and sustainable future\, and time to restore nature and build a healthy planet for our children and their children\, time is short. \nThe Earth Day 2022 Theme is Invest In Our Planet. What Will You Do? \nFind information on Earth Day events near you\, activities\, and what individuals and organizations can do to make a difference.

SUMMARY:2021 Wild and Scenic Film Festival
DESCRIPTION:The Santa Fe Watershed Association festival films this year takes you on a journey about resilience\, hearing from a diversity of voices along the way. The resilience of nature after fire\, of sustainable agriculture\, and the resilience of watersheds as we see a remarkable example of a watershed being brought back from the brink. You will be struck by how a single volunteer can have an immense impact. Watch a custom video about our own Watershed Association and our volunteer programs. Then hear from a female Diné river guide as you marvel at the scenery of the San Juan River\, and a diverse group of outdoor leaders as they wonder about a newly discovered stand of old growth coastal redwoods. \nFinally meet a possibly unexpected group that accept the reality of climate change\, namely rural people in the West. Our call to action is to support the CommuniTree Network and its efforts to enhance the urban tree canopy\, mitigating and adapting to climate change in our own City\, among other benefits. We hope you hear\, loud and clear\, the call to engage with nature and work to support our environment. \nThe festival comprises:\n7 films • 2 custom videos about Santa Fe Watershed Association & Santa Fe CommuniTree Network \nMore information.
