On Martin Luther King Day, and the day before the legislature begins, teams of walkers will journey from the four directions to the Roundhouse, arriving at high noon, to encourage New Mexico to take brave action to combat the climate crisis.

Join 350 Santa Fe to Walk 4 The Climate next Monday, January 17 and gather early for a 11:30 am departure from the parking lot of St John’s United Methodist Church at 1200 Old Pecos Trail. We will assemble on the Barcelona St side of the church before joining the walkers to the east side of Roundhouse, about a 20 minutes. Bring your placards (see talking points below).

The agenda at the Roundhouse: 12:10 introductory remarks outside east entrance; 12:20 activity at all four directions; 12:30 public sharing, rally and conclusion.

Climate Legislative Talking Points

For more on talking points on the bills we support or oppose see our priorities.  Here’s a brief summary:

Support for the Clean Future Act (previously Zero Emissions Economy Act)

Opposition to legislation that encourages hydrogen production from natural gas.

Support for the Environmental Rights Constitutional Amendment (Green Amendment).

Along with these important issues, numerous other bills needing support create incentives for solar power, energy efficiency and electric vehicles; and improve conservation of New Mexico’s lands and waters. Demand strong climate action!
