One of a Collaborative Fall Webinar Series on Soil Health

The State Land Office and the NM Healthy Soil Working Group proudly present a collaborative fall webinar series for the benefit of New Mexico’s farmers and ranchers and advancement of healthy soil principles on working lands.

Today, a Webinar with Dr. Kate Zeigler, Zeigler Geologic Consulting & Emily Cornell, Sol Ranch.

Dr. Kate Zeigler is owner and senior geologist at Zeigler Geologic Consulting, LLC. Known by some as Doc Ziggy and with degrees in Geology and Anthropology, Kate has participated in field research in New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, Montana, North Dakota and the People’s Republic of China. Currently, Kate is working as a consulting geologist, using her skillset to provide information about groundwater resources to agricultural producers and rural communities. She serves on the executive boards of the New Mexico Water Dialogue, El Llano Estacado RC&D Council, the New Mexico Chapter of the American Institute of Professional Geologists (AIPG), and the New Mexico Geological Society Foundation.

Young rancher Emily Cornell is owner of Sol Ranch, a cow-calf/custom graze cattle operation in the short grass country of northeastern New Mexico outside of Wagon Mound. Emily seasonally custom grazes 400-500 yearlings on 10,000 acres and also has a herd of 120 mama cows and heifers. Sol Ranch strives to manage for biologically diverse ecosystems with healthy soil through continuously improving grazing management, infrastructure development, monitoring, and collaborations with scientists and neighbors.
