Accelerating the transition away from fossil-fuels

Earth Day: Stop the Money Pipeline Campaign – April 23
Stop The Money Pipeline is a campaign to get the big banks like Chase to stop investing in the fossil fuel industry. In Santa Fe, there are no branches of Chase bank, but Wells Fargo has four. And Wells Fargo ranks with the worst, in terms of investments in fossil fuels. Wells Fargo is especially heavy into funding fracking in the Permian Basin, here in New Mexico.
The big banks, including Wells Fargo, are so deep into lending to oil and gas corporations that they have plans to take over any that threaten to close, during this economic shutdown. See the NY Times article.
We do support what banks are doing to support ordinary people and greener businesses.
But this downturn is a perfect opportunity for banks to help put people back to work and support the budding industries of solar and wind and other green businesses. New Mexico has a wealth of sun and wind, ideal for just such development.
Join us in challenging Wells Fargo to do the right thing, for the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day by writing to :

How Much Time is Left?
from UNEP and the Emissions Gap Report 2019
“Our collective failure to act early and hard on climate change means we now must deliver deep cuts to emissions – over 7 per cent each year, if we break it down evenly over the next decade,” said Inger Andersen, UNEP’s Executive Director.
