Description: Project Summary and Status.
The proposed 220 MW Diamond Tail Solar & Storage Project in Sandoval County will replace some of PNM’s fossil electricity, saving 11.6 billion gallons of water and 1.4 million tons of CO2/year. The income from the $450 million project investment will support jobs, county coffers, and conservation on Rio Grande watershed.
The Sandoval Planning and Zoning Commission approved the project unanimously on Dec. 10, 2024 on a 4-0 vote. Some vocal site opponents are currently appealing that approval to the full county commission on procedural grounds.
