About the screening
Energy development and climate change impact indigenous people in ways mainstream society seldom considers. Join us Tuesday, October 3 at the Center for Contemporary Arts (CCA) for Powerlands, a documentary film by Ivey Camille Manybeads Tso of the Navajo Nation. Following the screening, Camille the film maker will take questions from attendees.
The event is FREE and open to the public, tho’ $10 donatons are suggested. Because seating is limited, tickets should be reserved in advance at the CCA website.
As the Navajo-Hopi Observer wrote in its review of the film: “Powerlands highlights the displacement of indigenous peoples and the devastation of the environment by energy companies that exploit the land to the detriment of the Native people on them.” Director Ivey Camille Manybeads Tso says her initial goal was simple, “From the beginning of this project, our commitment to the communities we worked with was to do everything we could to amplify their voices.”
