AAUW Advocacy Day

January 30, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am MST

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) invite you in person to join them on Jan 30 at 10:00 am at the NM Land Office to learn from two speakers on advocating for climate legislation:

10:00 – Stephanie Garcia Richard, New Mexico Commissioner of Public Lands, will address environmental challenges and protections on state lands, especially methane recapture and the transportation and storage of spent nuclear fuel near the Permian Basin, the source of most of NM’s budget. She will also discuss using state lands for solar farming and affordable housing.

10:30-Dede Feldman, former NM Senator and author will discuss proposed legislation to modernize the NM Legislature and the authoritative research findings regarding the benefits of paying salaries to our unpaid legislators, providing shared professional staff, and allowing flexibility in session length and scope.

The public is invited to attend. Masks are required.
Please tell your friends and colleagues.

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) has taken positions on the fundamental issues of the day — educational, social, economic, and political since 1881. AAUW does not support or oppose candidates for public office or take a stand for or against any political party. We are committed to advancing opportunities for girls and women and economic equality and equity for all.
