Why Now!

GHG emissions are widely distributed throughout the developed nations like ours; most of those sources are not under the control of the federal government. So even with the support and financial incentives of Washington undoubtedly evaporating, political action at the state and local level, along with education on how people and businesses can act sustainably, still have a lot to offer.

We expect to see misguided and ideological efforts to dismantle federal climate protection policies and a diaspora of qualified civil servants. However, we can keep up our New Mexico momentum started by the Inflation Reduction Act. – it channels monies to many state climate programs. We believe the best way to counter new White House policies is to put our best efforts into climate action in NM and possibly neighboring states, our municipalities and the private sector.

We may be fortunate to have a blue New Mexico but there are still plenty of opportunities to make a difference especially as we are basically a petro-state.

We can always to a better job in educating the public, influencing agency rules and steering climate legislation.

So please join us to learn how climate action can survive the next four years, where you can fit in and how to pursue your favorite idea.
