One of YUCCA’s top priority bills this session is the Solar Access Fund!!! that we are pushing this session along with our Public Power Coalition partners.

The bill will increase access to community-owned solar throughout New Mexico and bring funding to help Indigenous, rural, and other communities pursue community-owned solar projects – with planning and implementation grants.

Public Power New Mexico will host a Local Solar Access Fund webinar with Representative Szczepanski and Senator Pope on Tuesday, January 9, from 5:30 to 7 PM on Zoom. Trenton Marlar and Stephen Claremont will join the legislators, researchers with Embold Research, a nonpartisan research organization, and Lisa LaRocque, Sustainability Officer for the City of Las Cruces.

The webinar will feature presentations and Q&A on the Local Solar Access Fund and its potential impact, as well as the results of Embold Research’s recent statewide survey of New Mexican voters’ perceptions and preferences around solar energy and policy.
