Monthly Meeting: Guest Speaker Daisy Maldonado

Third Act Actions Lab is excited to host Daisy Maldonado, educator, facilitator, and former Director of the Empowerment Congress in Dona Ana County, New Mexico. Daisy will share her experiences and insights fighting Project Jupiter, a fast-tracked, massive and controversial $165 billion AI data center campus in Dona Ana County. This will be a a fantastic opportunity to learn about the fight against data centers on the frontlines and engage in a Q&A.  Project Jupiter is one example of an increasingly common phenomenon: giant data centers built quickly in poor communities, bypassing consultatation and regulatory processes.

Daisy has been an advocate for community programs and organizations that put people at their center and shift power to those most impacted by unjust systems. Her grassroots approach to systemic change challenges society’s ideas about immigrant populations and the contributions that Colonias play in community leadership. Her work uplifts and equips people with the tools necessary to lead and voice their concerns. Her work significantly creates hope for the next generation of our community.
