UCS Action Hour: Fight Back against Deregulation
The Trump administration has been systematically dismantling critical rules and regulations that protect our environment and public health. This wave of deregulation comes with a slew of potential consequences that further worsen the climate crisis and expose frontline communities to greater cumulative risks. We can fight back against deregulatory chaos by strengthening public participation in rulemaking and comment periods.
The Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) invites you to a virtual action hour where we will practice tactics for resisting federal deregulation of public health and environmental safeguards through strong public participation.
We’ve seen the Trump administration dismiss independent science and analysis that is legally required to inform the rulemaking process—but we must persist. It is critical that scientists and concerned members of the public participate and make their voices heard, so that science and the impacts of ignoring the science can be used in lawsuits and other mechanisms if needed.
During this event, we will share examples of past and current regulatory fights, discuss ways to get involved in public comment periods, and preview the issues we are watching in 2026.
