Richard Jennings, Dr. Water! brings his knowledge to the UU – Environmental Justice team
July 26, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm MDT
Richard Jennings, of Earthwrights Designs and SFCC professor, will help the Unitarian Universalists of Santa Fe understand how the church can save or recapture water. He writes:
“My appraisal of a site considers site sourced water resources of precipitation, grey water and treated sewage as part of a larger whole. Potential yields: food, fiber, fuel, Carbon capture, microclimates, habitat, resiliency, moisture management, beauty and social unity. The analysis is based on CPA: conservation, passive systems, active systems. This generally tracks complexity and cost. Conservation is the principle that if you don’t spend it you don’t have to get it. Passive design uses gravity to keep water on a site in a way that directs and infiltrates it into living soils. My work is mostly on active parts with designs, permits, tanks, treatment systems, pumps, valves, controls, etc. That said I have done many things and taught for 10 years at the local community college.”
