Giant Sacaton Field Day
September 14 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm MDT
Giant Sacaton, Sporobolus wrightii, is an impressive grass native to the arid Southwest. Deep-rooted and fast growing, it stands up to 8 feet tall and 4 feet wide. At this Field Day, learn about a Western Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) funded project investigating use of the grass in windbreaks on farms and ranches. We will plant Giant Sacaton seedlings to reduce wind and water erosion—thereby building soil and fostering biodiversity.
