Water-wise Grazing Field Day

September 14 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm MDT

The Ogallala aquifer in Eastern New Mexico is in dramatic decline with only a few years of groundwater left by some estimates. This field day will showcase strategies and tools to respond to this acute water crisis by prioritizing soil health. We’ll start the day at the Clayton Livestock Research Center with presentations by the USDA Southwest Climate Hub. After a communal lunch, we’re returning to Glenn Duff’s fields to get an update on his transition from growing thirsty commodity crops to adaptive management grazing in order to conserve water.

  • When: Monday September 16, 2024 at 9am – 4pm
  • Where: The field day starts at Clayton Livestock Research Center, 15 NMSU Lane in Clayton and ends ~17 miles South of Clayton, NM
